In my work to empower food, fitness and wellness professionals to build their businesses, I have found motivation, confidence and accountability to be just as important as marketing techniques.
So, I am excited to launch Monday Motivation, which will contain motivation strategies, inspiration and life hacks (think: goal-setting, staying motivated, confidence builders and more). You can still find Free Marketing Tips (think: email analytics, PR strategies, social media hacks and more) here.
Monday morning is an awesome time to feel empowered, motivated and inspired to take on the week ahead. Let's do this!
How to Get Stuff Done
Sometimes being an entrepreneur can be overwhelming, there is so, so much to do in such little time. One thing that can help ease some of this pain is to learn to manage your time in a way that empowers you to be your best. A great, wonderful, fantastic book that will help reshape your thoughts on time management is the 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss.
A few things this expert recommends:
Eliminate busy work - as Tim says, "being busy is most often used as a guise for avoiding the few critically important but uncomfortable actions." To be productive, focus in on the important and high return tasks.
Only check your email once a day - this may seem a little extreme, but it is much easier to focus when your inbox is turned off. This goes for social media, too.
Delegate work to a virtual assistant – I have yet to try this, but have spoken to others who swear by it. One tip I hear over and over again: you’ll need to try out a few before you find someone who you jive with.
A few things that work for me:
The one most important things that I’ve done to help me take on big, badder projects and tasks is to create a Must Do List. I found myself wasting a lot of time on menial tasks, which is a no-no when running your own business. I write down all of my to-dos (usually the day before) and prioritize, which of these to-dos will help drive the greatest success? Which will move my business forward? Which feels super overwhelming? And then I select 3 and do everything I can to finish them in the day, the other to-dos can usually be done quickly and without too much pressure or thought.
Find an accountability buddy. I learned this one from the awesome Lisa Pachence. Set a goal and a deadline and find someone who will help you stick to it.
Just do it. I’m prone to go over and over things looking to only launch the perfect post or presentation. Perfectionism is often hinders progress, set deadlines for yourself and stick to them.
